Workshop Description:
Hands-down Yana’s most popular workshop, Consent & Cookies has been taught at colleges & high schools all over New England including The Williston Northampton School, Amherst High School, The Brickhouse Community Center, Holyoke High School, Brandeis University, Champlain College, Worcester State University, and more.
Dozens of other educators and facilitators have also taken Yana’s Consent & Cookies Educator Training Webinar, which instructs educators how to teach Consent & Cookies themselves. With this training, Consent & Cookies has been brought to national & international groups, including in Canada & South Africa.
This workshop acknowledges that the consent education available to young people (if available at all) fails to illustrate what good communication looks like in real life: What words do I use? What does that do for my partner? What does that do for me? How do I say no? How do I accept a no gracefully? How can consent fit into my real life, in and outside of sexual or romantic situations?
This fun & interactive workshop includes Yana’s popular snack-building activity that help brings to life consensual communication, tools and techniques in a way accessible to young people. Including a pre-snack talk about the central components of consent and a post-snack discussion about how to give, ask for, receive, and negotiate consent, this workshop seeks to help youth build confidence in their ability to apply consent to their everyday relational interactions.
The goal of this workshop is to meet youth where they’re at in their lives and relationships in an approachable & appropriate & fun setting to help them break down the linguistic, mental & emotional barriers standing in the way of creating a culture of consensual communication at their schools, in their peer groups and for their future sexual explorations.
